Park life gable-end mural. St. George, Bristol

I collaborated with fellow illustrator David J McMillan on this giant and colourful public artwork, celebrating St George and getting out in the great outdoors. The mural is 30 feet high and covers the side of an end-of-terrace private home.

Positioned next to St George Library (Church Rd, East Bristol), the mural is bright, playful, and depicts dog-walking, skateboarding and the park's much-loved ducks. The artwork, which took 5 days and 11 litres of paint to complete, provides a bold and vivid welcome to the city.

We were commissioned by the home-owners and also supported by a bursary from a-n The Artists Information Company and Arts Council England. During the design phase, we took care to consult with local community groups on the design.

Enriching an area and community is always at the heart of a large-scale project like this.
It's vital to gain feedback and support from the community.
