Coffee shop exterior and interior murals. Starbucks, Camden High Street, London

Starbucks commissioned a set of two murals for their Camden High Street store in London. They asked that I draw on Camden’s musical heritage, punk and counter-culture characters, mixed with a newer influx of tourists and diverse visitors.

I developed a six colour palette, shared by both murals, featuring their distinct dark green, complimentary warm coffee-influenced colours and a punchy blue to help dance the eye across the artwork.

I was inspired by the energy, liveliness, quirkiness, and irreplaceable charm of Camden, and tried to squeeze as much of this spirit onto the bricks in-between windows and on the narrow walls of the store.

The murals aim to reflect the famous diversity and richness of the neighbourhood, exuding positivity and inclusivity so that everyone can perhaps see a bit of themselves in the mural.

I highly recommend Dave, as he did an outstanding job for our store at Camden High Street. Dave is driven and professional, the design process felt smooth and collaborative. He was eager to understand our brand, was easy to communicate with and the whole team was pleased with the finished design.

When it came to execution, Dave showed flexibility and keen sense of problem solving for those on-site complexities. The finished work - thoughtfully executed - received heaps of compliments and positive feedback from the community and beyond. Our team is looking forward to working with him again in the future!
